Jan left Monterey in 1991, moving her business 250 miles east to Sonora, where she became a successful merchant in the Sonora Antique Guild. In 1996 Jan moved her operations to "Main Street Antiques" in nearby Jamestown, an historic gold-mining area, right off Highway 49, in the “Gold Country” of Northern California.
With an educational background in finance, Jan also worked with a Tuolumne County CPA firm and holds a Notary Public Commission. With the start of the new millenium, Jan decided to re-focus her career. In 2003, she graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In lieu of pursuing her MBA, Jan decided to continue her education at the College for Appraisers in Huntington Beach, California. In June 2005, she passed the extensive coursework and exams to become a "Graduate Certified Appraiser". In October 2005, Jan passed the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices exam, a certification that must be renewed every five years. Constant study, continuing coursework, and knowledge of the current market trends keep her in tune with today's marketplace. Life-long learning is not only the key to an interesting life, but crucial to success in the appraiser's world. |
